TV personality Joyce Gioia, 69, and her husband, Dr. Carl R. Berman, 74, a college professor, are living proof of the health benefits of Kare’s Micronized Purple Rice (MPR).

In fact, the vibrant, energetic Austin power couple even took a trip to Antarctica in December!

Not all that long ago though, Joyce says, her husband was fighting 2 major life-threatening diseases.

MAJOR REVERSALS

“Carl was on chemotherapy for his colon for about six months,” she says, “and when he got off, they told us he should start feeling better. Unfortunately, six weeks later, not only had he not gotten better, but he was getting worse. I was beginning to get very concerned.”

It was then that Joyce learned about MPR, she says. This was nearly two years ago.

“One of my good friends from when I lived in New York is a woman named Dr. Tianna Conte,” she says. “I called Tianna, and we were chatting, and I told her how worried I was about Carl. She told me I should try feeding him a new functional food called Micronized Purple Rice.”

Dr. Conte, a naturopath, told Joyce how this powerful food fuels the body to function at higher levels and that she is also eating it and recommending it to her patients. Joyce learned that it is a rare heirloom form of purple rice that grown in pristine soils in Northern Thailand and that it takes 60 pounds of heirloom purple rice to get just one pound of the powerful heirloom nutrients (polysaccharides, polypeptides and anti-oxidants).

The most nutritious part of the purple rice grain is extracted and milled so fine that its concentrated nutrients can be absorbed through the cell membranes, where they fuel our mitochondria (cellular batteries), which then produce ATP, or pure light energy. The cells are then recharged, repaired, and regenerated.

“I started off by giving Carl MPR capsules because it was easier to get him to take them,” Joyce says.

“It was working, but not as well as we’d hoped. And then he stopped taking them, and he kind of deteriorated a little bit.”

“After that we started him on the powder,” she says. “At first he didn’t improve. There’s a marker called carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). When he was on chemo the highest his CEA had ever been was 6.1. And all of a sudden it was 8.5 — not good!

The physician said we should get more tests done. I told her, ‘You know, I’ve started him on a promising new food — let’s give it 30 days.’ So she agreed.”

“And so 30 days later,” Joyce says, “we got another set of tests done. The normal range for CEA is under 5. Well, 30 days later, his CEA had gone from 8.5 to 4.8. And then, 30 days after that, they tested it again because they wanted to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, and it was at 3.8!”

“At that point they released him for six months,” she says. “That was about a year and three months ago. He’s done very, very well in the interim — he’s still feeling great!”

KIDNEY ISSUES AND NEUROPATHY IMPROVED, TOO

Joyce says her husband’s kidney health is much better now, too.

“Carl had stage 2 kidney disease because of some medication he’d taken for 20 years that had really wrecked his kidneys,” she says.

“His creatinine was at 2.1 to 2.3, and you really want it to be 1.5 or under, so that was really elevated. Well, it has come down to 1.6. So, he’s got borderline full kidney function now, down from stage 2 kidney disease. That’s a big improvement! This was after the doctors told us there was nothing we could do.”

“When we talked with the nephrologist (kidney doctor) who had just seen us 30 days earlier,” Joyce says, he told Carl, ‘Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it.’ ”

“My husband also had severe neuropathy in his hands and feet,” Joyce says. “Well, the first day eating MPR he started to feel bolts of energy going into his hands. He has almost complete feeling in both hands and feet now. He’s walking better, and his balance is better.”

Dr. Carl Berman is a Full Collegiate Professor at The University of Maryland University College, teaching online courses year round.

BETTER ENERGY, MORE YOUTHFUL SKIN

Being on television often, Joyce says, she has to look and feel her best, and the MPR helps a lot with that.

“I’ve been on TV 27 times in the last nine months,” she says, “including an appearance on the Today Show. And, I spend about 16 days a month on the road, so I need all the energy I can get!”

“I just celebrated my 69th birthday,” she adds. “I started feeling more energy almost immediately after I started eating MPR! And my facial skin has tightened and toned quite a bit, too.”

Joyce is one of the top female futurists in the world, as well as a professional speaker and the author of the popular Herman Trend Alert, which goes out to 29,000 people in 87 countries, in four languages, every week, she says.

“It covers all kinds of trends,” she says. “For example, one recent report was about using virtual reality to sell vacations, and next up is the future of sales management.”

Thanks to Kare’s Micronized Purple Rice, the future looks bright indeed for this amazing couple!
